Garde 100 Chain Lifting and Safety Equipment

What is De-rating?

A reduction in the capacity of a chain, component or sling with a consequent revision of its working load limit (WWL), due to factors including how it is used, what it is used for, its surface finish and the work environment.

What is a safety latch?

The spring-loaded latch that prevents a hook from being unintentionally disconnected.

What is the difference between Grade 80 Chain and Grade 100 Chain?

Grade 80 chain is the most commonly used and available lifting chain for sling configuration within the lifting industry.

  • The Grade 80 standard for chain slings has a high strength-to-weight ratio
  • Grade 80 Chain Slings are commonly used to lift heavy or awkward items on construction sites such as: skip bins, concrete slabs, pipes, dense materials, pre-fabricated structures.
  • Grade 80 can also be used for lashing chain to secure heavy loads on faltbed trucks.
  • Made of high-quality alloy steel, Grade 80 chain slings are used across many industries, such as construction, where cranes are used to lift heavy loads.

Like Grade 80, Grade 100 chains are ideal for lifting in sling configurations where a smaller chain size is required.

  • Grade 100 has a 25% higher workload limit
  • With its high strength, Grade 100 chain slings are known for their efficiency and easier handling capabilities
  • Made of high-quality alloy steel, these chain slings are heat treated for enhanced strength and elongation.
  • Grade 100 chains are popular in manufacturing, construction, and rigging applications
  • Like Grade 80 Grade 100 Chain Slings are commonly used to lift heavy or awkward items on construction sites such as: skip bins, concrete slabs, pipes, dense materials, pre-fabricated structures.

Major benefits that Grade 100 offers over Grade 80 chain slings are :

  • Higher load capacity of up to 25%.
  • Reduced sling weight of up to 40% – due to its smaller diameter.
  • Better price to performance ratio.
  • Better hardness and wear resistance – thus enabling long life performance.
  • Spare parts and fittings of Grade 100 are compatible with Grade 80 chains.

Can I weld Grade 100 Chain?

No, do not weld Grade 100 Chain or fittings to another material or try to join them. The heat applied during the welding process would be detrimental to the product and would adversely and significantly compromise its performance.

Can I galvanise or plate Grade 100 Chain?

Grade 100 Chain and fittings must never be hot dip galvanised, mechanically galvanised or electroplated. The risks of hydrogen embrittlement are severe.
